The WhitSundays, beautiful silica islands in the central section of the Great Barrier reef. Unfortunately for us the 3 days we spent in the area were really wet! On a bright day it must be really spectacular and the view at the point we took this photo from is the 3rd most photographed area in Oz. Even in the rain we had quite a fun day out on a boat, it was a fast inflatable so the crew took advantage of the choppy seas and strong winds to make the trip around the islands an exciting ride to make up for the murky seas and driving rain!
It was so wet it wasn’t a good idea to get the camera out on the boat but we wish we’d got a photo to show of 20 tourists all in yellow hooded waterproofs looking a bit fed up, we looked like a group of Nordic fishermen.

The moon rising over the ocean at The Town of 1770 in Qld so named because on 24th May 1770 Captain Cook landed the Endeavour here, not the first landing as they had already discovered Botany Bay in NSW.

We must have taken a wrong turning somewhere, can‘t be this close to home already!

We spent a couple of nights in Robina in the Gold Coast area with Elaine, Darryn and Erica. Lovely people who were kind enough to let us do the important things when travelling like use a washing machine and get a WiFi connection! It was great to get to know them and we only wish we had taken their photo. Still, this is Lucy an important member of the household and quite a character.

The lighthouse at Byron Bay, a nice little resort very popular with backpackers. Lots of shopping opportunities so John could not wait to leave!

Oh dear, another beach to ourselves, how terrible! John at the Booti Booti National Park in Pacific Palms.
